Subject: Richard Taylor
Date Posted: 09/May/2009 at 5:51pm
I have received news that Richard Taylor has been involved in a motor cycle accident on Friday night.  He is on Life Support at the Alfred Hospital and the prognosis is not good for Richard, he has brain damage and may not survive with out the assistance on the machines.  A decision regarding the turning off of the machines will be made in the next few days.

This is extremely sad news for those invovled in the club and our hearts and thoughts are with Paul, Fiona and the girls.

The Taylor family have been involved with the club for more than 10 years, Richard has won 3 senior grand finals, most recently this season in the 4ths, the 2005/2006 2nd XI and 2001/2002 3rd XI flag.  Fiona was inducted as a life member at presentation night.  The Taylor (& Burns) family won best club person in 2004, 2005 & 2006 for their work with the club.

I can report that as of 9.45pm Richard was pronounced dead. Paul, Fiona, Felicity, Courtney & Catherine are all devastated at the loss of their beloved Richard.

There are no words that can descibe what they are going through at the moment.

We, as a family need to stick together to ensure that Richard is never forgotten and to support them through this difficult time.

RIP Dicky

Tragic news that many of  us became aware of at the footy yesterday.  What can you say?  Condolences to the Taylor Family, we all share your grief.  Pause and reflect on this Mothers Day what Fiona must be feeling, and make sure you embrace your own families when you see them as things can change so quickly.  RIP Rich.

Such a tragedy and a waste of life. I cant begin to imagine how fiona and the family must be feeling. To see one bad decision have such a devastating result is an eye opener to the rest of us and a lesson in how precious life is. Our thoughts are with you Fiona, Paul, Felicity, Courtney and Cathrine and he wont be forgotten.

Such a waste of a young life, Richard will be sadly missed by all at the club for not only his cricket ability but also his larger than life personality. He has left a great legacy with his fantastic work with the kids in the Milo program and can never be replaced.
It was an honour to not only have played along side Richard but also an honour to have known Richard as a person. A guy with a heart of GOLD.
To Fiona, Paul, Felicity, Courtney and Cathrine a tragic loss of a son and a brother.

Was simply gutted when was told the news Saturday Night. A fantastic club man, talented cricketer and one of the people that make our club so great. It is unimaginable to think of what the club will be like without such a big personality.  To see him grow up at the club and share in so many great moments only to have hid life cut so tragically short is simply devestating. A truly tragic loss and such a waste. A great clubman and friend to all who have known him through the years. To Paul, Fiona and the girls our deepest sympathies during such a devestating time. The club will be for ever poorer for his absence.

My sentiments can only mirror all of those posted above. I've known Rich since his days running around for KFC when coached by A Zandt and can honestly say he has not changed a bit since then.
A huge personality coupled with plenty of bravado is what made Dicky such a well known person around the club.

Our thoughts are with the family in what must be an incredibly tough time. I can't even begin to imagine how they are feeling.

RIP mate

Truly a tragedy losing such a great person so young. A massive hole will be left as everyone was always happy when 'Bling' was around, he had a unique ability to make people laugh. A very good cricketer and an even better human being.
Deepest sympathies go out to the Taylor family

To Fiona, Paul, Katherine, Courtney & Felicity
Words can never heal your pain or console you over the loss of Richard.
His memory and life will be carried by all at the club in some many ways as Richard had many sides to his personality and to his way of living life to the absolute fullest.
The KGCC has been blessed to have had Richard as a player and without his interest we certainly would have also missed out on the contributions of the entire extended Taylor family.

The club will strive to do justice to the memory of Richard and we all hope that those among us who have enjoyed all of the good times that Richard played a part in will ensure that he is never forgotten.

As someone who coached him at Footy and then had the pleasure to work with him around the club I will miss him dearly and even in the last few weeks his willingness to accept more responsibility to help develop our Girls and Milo programs typified his undying CLUB SPIRIT.

The club will support you HOW EVER possible and so that our members are aware we will help the Taylor family to have a celebration of Richard's life at the clubrooms following the Funeral. It would be my hope that we can pack the joint to pay our respects to Richy BLING!

We will miss him dearly ... Rest in Peace

Richard enthusiastically donated countless hours helping me run the Milo in2CRICKET program for many years.  He managed the "Have a Game" from inception.  We were one of the few clubs to 1st trial this program and Richard looked after this with aplom.  How sad that he will not see the fruits of his labour by one day playing alongside the children he coached.  I am sure last season's Have a Game group will be saddened by Richards' death and I will watch their progress through the Club in the coming years as one his legacies.

Richard also supported the Girls program in it's inaugural year.  I never heard a bad word from Richard and his support to me was appreciated and at times absolutely vital to keeping our Junior Development moving forward.  I had big plans to utilize his leadership and enthusiams for this season.

Richard will be a huge loss to our Club and to cricket generally.  He had enjoyed assisting Di  Day at Cricket Victoria.

Our thoughts and sympathy to Fiona, Paul, Felicity, Courtney and Kathryn and Pop.

Rest in Peace Richard

Fiona,Paul,Felicity,Courtney and Catherine, it is in times like these that the true value of being part of a club is evident. You can be certain that you have an entire community that feels your pain and is there to support you in any way you need. As a parent i can only imagine what you are going through and hope the support you are recieving is helping in some way. I hope this tragedy can teach us all that life is to precious to waste and we must cherish every moment we can. Thinking of you all.

my heart goes out to all those who knew richard 'bling' taylor, but particularly his family; fiona, paul, felicity, courtney and kathrine - you are all in my thoughts.

although he only lived a short life, he certainly 'lived' it. he was one of those guys who was full of energy and loved action, adventure and telling a story. i admired him for the way he lived his life full of passion, which was most evident on the cricket pitch or after a few beers.

he was a guy i got to know past his bravado... and I'll miss him.

To the whole of the taylor family, our prayers and thoughts are with you at this shocking time.

Right from when we both started in under 10's together, right up until we played senior cricket together, all of my great cricket memories has rich right there at the front.

Rich was the type of guy that would always say g'day and always love a chat and if there were more people like that, the world would be a better place.

RIP mate.

Richard, unfortunately for me I did not know you as well as most of the other guys but I did have the pleasure of playing a number of games with you and I will always remember you as a talented cricketer and a knockabout bloke. The shared celebrations of our premiership success this past season will always stick with me as will the genuine interest you took in the Under 11's I coached. You were always keen to see how they were going on the Friday nights.

Such a tragic loss of a young life with so much to offer and you will be sadly missed.

My deepest condolences to the family, who are an institution of the cricket club, at this terrible time.

Richard was a fantastic supporter of female cricket, helping out in every way possible.  He scored for the Under 14 Outer East Eagles in the State Championship Jan 2008, he assisted with coaching at the Knox Gardens Girls Only Clinics for 2008 & 2009, he would always volunteer to help me out at school clinics and much, much more on top of the many other roles with Milo Have-A-Go & Game and his own playing career.

To the Taylor family, your sorrow will be felt far and wide as many people had the absolute pleasure of meeting Richard.  From the very first hand shake, he made you feel like you were lifelong mates.  Under that bold exterior and gold hoop earring, he was a sweet, kind and generous man with a huge heart, who always had time for you and I always had time for him!

We will all miss you Richard, R.I.P.   Thank you for everything you have done for the girls and their cricket careers.

Richie Bling, Dick, Rich, 'oh no not Richie',
However we know of Rich, remember one thing I will always have time for your drunken chats and promises of being good to your mother.
As a kid you were a pest, as a young man you were still a pest (after 2 cans), one thing is for sure you played and lived on the edge. I wish of only one thing that you treated life like your bowling run up, tear in at 100 miles an hour only to pull up for the moment of truth. Unfortunately you have left us behind, but be sure of one thing when the 09/10 season comes around the KGCC will miss the Bling.

RIP Rich

Alf and I, along with our children, are terribly shocked and saddened by Richard's passing. We may not have seen each other for many years but our love and thoughts are with you at this unbearable time.  I still have that memory of Richard doing his "Grease Lightning" impersonation all those years ago in your loungeroom and the great times we had as parents sharing the birthdays and special events together. No words can come anywhere close to alleviating your pain, you are living every parent's nightmare - may he rest in peace

Yesterday in reading a local paper we were shocked to learn of Richard's passing.  I have always followed with interest all of the boys I have had an involvement with in cricket, and with Richard, he represented the FTGDCA in the U12 Mitchell Shield Team with distinction.   The Taylor's are a special family who have committed many hours of dedicated hard work to their local sporting community.

Our family is shocked at the news & we send Fiona & Paul & family all of our love.
